Tourmaline is a crystalline boron sillicate which contains other elements such as iron, magnesium, sodium and lithium etc.
The name tourmaline comes from Sri Lanka and the Sinhalese word Turmali.
Tourmaline can be found in many colours, most common is black and green, with a combination of pink and green called watermelon being most sought after by the crystal healing fraternity.
Blue called indicolite is prized by collectors along with a ruby red colour also known as rubellite.
